This 6-week Apprenticeship Program provides graduates of the Death Doula Course the opportunity to gain real-world experience as an end of life doula. Students will be matched with people in the community who have agreed to receive the support, care, and guidance of a training death doula.
Apprentice doulas will receive ongoing mentorship throughout the 6 weeks. Once a student is matched with a participant, a schedule will be made, which will include meetings (done in person or via Zoom, depending on location and accessibility).
For Potential Participants:
– You do not need to be currently experiencing an illness in order to join the program.
– If you would be willing to commit to a 6-week time period, you will receive support from an apprentice doula along with a professional doula.
– Some topics to be explored will include: advance care planning, health care proxy decision making, legacy projects, grief support, family discussions, discussions about dying and death anxiety, how to support loved ones who are facing end of life, and more!
– You can be located anywhere within Canada, though in person appointments will be scheduled for those in or around Winnipeg, Manitoba.
– You will gain knowledge, information, and encouragement that will help you and your loved ones to prepare for end of life, even long before it is needed. This support is helpful to everyone, regardless of age or condition of health. You will receive resources, tools, and helpful suggestions that will be invaluable to you and your loved ones.
